Figma plans and seats: how do they affect your Snapside history?
Understand how Figma API limits work, why request counts differ from timeline entries, and what happens when collection is delayed.

When you connect Figma, you expect design changes to show up in Snapside. If they take a while, it’s natural to wonder whether something has broken. One reason collection can vary is Figma’s API limit.
Put simply, it limits how often Snapside can ask Figma for the latest state of a file.
Does a limit of 20 requests mean 20 timeline entries?
Not necessarily. The number of file requests and the number of timeline entries are different things.
A single file request can reveal several changes at once, such as a button’s copy, color, and spacing. Snapside also needs an initial file state to compare against, and it may group closely related edits into one timeline view.
Opening a record already saved in Snapside is different from fetching the file again from Figma. A low request allowance can delay new updates, but it doesn’t cap the number of records already saved.
Plan and seat are two different things
A plan is the Figma subscription for a team or organization: Starter, Professional, Organization, or Enterprise. A seat describes what an individual can do: View, Collab, Dev, or Full.
Figma considers the user’s seat, the kind of API request, and the plan where the file lives. So a Full seat in one organization doesn’t automatically give the same allowance to a file stored in a Starter space. Figma Help
For file-content requests made with Dev or Full seats on paid plans, Figma lists these Tier 1 limits:
These are request limits. They don’t mean Snapside fetches the file that often or creates an entry for every request. Figma REST API docs
View and Collab seats have a monthly limit for file-content requests. There’s a wrinkle in Figma’s published information: as of October 6, 2026, its developer table says up to 20 per month for every plan, while its help table says up to 20 for Starter and up to 6 for paid plans. The developer page’s examples also mention six per month. Figma says the actual limit for these seats may be lower depending on demand.
